Pottery Coaching Info

My Approach:
I am a Pottery Wheel Coach, who tailors lessons to the unique skillset of the student. During each highly individualized instructional session, I walk students through the process of creating on the pottery wheel. I help them to focus on the basics as well as fine tune their skills. My goal is to establish muscle memory that they can call upon anytime, as life carries on. This enables students to fall back into pottery in their future and use the activity as a form of self-care, setting them up for healthy outlets as adults.

My coaching approach allows them to build confidence and foster an affinity for the wheel right away. After the foundation is laid, I encourage them to embrace their mistakes by learning from each one in realtime. Doing this allows students to experience the limitations of the clay, first hand, with a vested reason for powering through the difficult moments. This is a valuable skillset that carries over into other aspects of life.

Location:
My small studio is located in Clovis, CA and has 2 pottery wheels. Currently, instruction is offered as Solo or Double Sessions (which are often done with a friend, sibling or parent). During Double Sessions, the two students will be able to create their pieces while sitting face-to-face for both social enjoyment, and co-learning opportunities. For Solo Sessions, I will often throw along with the student and demonstrate each step as they go through the process.

Focus:
Our time is spent focused heavily on wheel throwing with some hand-building & glazing mixed in.

Included:
Customized instruction
Up to 2 hours of wheel time
Supplies (clay, glaze, kiln & tools) for 1 medium sized piece per session (with additional costs, depending on the size and quantity of projects).

Cost:
$45* per Solo Session
+$35* add-on for Sibling or Parent to make it a Double Session

Perk:
If you are a pottery wheel enthusiast, who has a child enrolled in recurring Solo Sessions, you may use the second wheel on your own without customized instruction while your child has their lesson (with this option, you will need to provide all of your own supplies including: clay, tools, glaze & kiln firing which I can direct you towards). *contact me for current pricing
